Grandpa Reads His Book to Abby

This was a fun moment Abby's birthday weekend, when Grandpa stopped by to read a bit of his new book and discuss it with her. It's called a "Letter to Lily" and he dedicated it to all the grandchildren. It's a geneaology sprinkled liberally with history taken from the time different family events were happening. Very well written! Abby was especially interested and Grandpa in showing it to her ~ because she began the geneology work online herself and began the process.

Amazing what can happen when the generations put their heads together!

The Prayer of a humble Prayer Warrior

Psalm 142:1-7
"I cry aloud with my voice to the Lord; I make supplication with my voice to the Lord.
I pour out my complaint before Him. When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, Thou didst know my path. In the way where I walk
They have hidden a trap for me. Look to the right and see;
For there is no one who regards me; There is no escape for me; No one cares for my soul.
I cried out to Thee, O Lord;
I said 'Thou art my refuge, My portion in the land of the living.
Give heed to my cry, For I am brought very low: Deliver me my persecutors, For they are too strong for me.
Bring my soul out of prison, So that I may give thanks to Thy name;
The righteous will surround me, For Thou wilt deal bountifully
with me.'"

Family Time

We had a luxurious, post Christmas, Abby's (our daughters) birthday in late January this year. She brought her beautiful black lab with the blue eyes, Spunky so we could have the sweetest dog soul on hand as well.

The four of us: Mike and I, Abby and her friend Teri, spent the afternoon and early evening together, shooting the breeze, snacking and finally eating. We had a low-key gift opening...fortunately Abby liked her gifts -- a MN Wild sweatshirt and a really nice windbreaker/jacket. We listened to music and had a very nice time of conversation. That is one of the nicest things about your children getting older -- all the great conversations you can now have about adult things like music and cell phones and cars! :)!

The evening was over too quickly and the girls had to go play hockey (their passion). The next day Abby stopped by to visit with her grandfather though, so I got to see her twice!

What a joyous weekend, how wonderful family is -- Thank you God! And how precious our times together.
